Coming Soon: Homelessness Resource Center

In mid-February, SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental
Health Services Administration), the
Homelessness Resource
Center, and PATH (Projects for Assistance in Transition from
Homelessness) will launch an interim government website at
homeless.samhsa.gov. Over the next year, we will complete
development on this entirely new web resource to aid the
fight against homelessness among individuals with mental
health problems, substance use issues and histories of
trauma. February is just the start.

Obtaining permanent housing is essential. However,
providing shelter alone will not solve homelessness. Both
housing and services are necessary for many homeless
people, especially those with mental health problems,
substance use issues, and histories of trauma. Finding all
this information in one place is next to impossible.

When this site is completed next winter, it will be among the
most advanced resources available on any public or social
policy issues. The site will cover the most important subjects
in the homeless field from the perspective of researchers,
service providers, consumers, advocates, and policy makers.

At its core, homeless.samhsa.gov is a government
information resource center where you - the user – can
contribute information. We’re starting simple and launching
an interim site with basic functionality. Until the final site is
complete, we’ll fill this interim site with content that informs,
features that engage, and training you can use.

Visit the site coming in mid February and participate in the
process of developing this next-generation online resource.
